Criticism Classes - Day 2
Second day of criticism classes were organized on 20th October 2022. Six of the members from English department presented their classes of different models. The session started with the class of Ancy Das. She planned an ICT class based on the story "The Little Round Red House". It was followed by the class of Athira A. who presented an activity based class to teach the poem "Song of the Flower" by Khalil Gibran. She made good attempt to facilitate learning process by showing pictures, flashcards, activity charts and sun diagram.
Then, Kripa K Yesudasan focused on the short story "The Mysterious Picture" using various photo frames, flash cards, activity cards and charts. It was followed by the class of Resmi Chadran on "Nightingale and the Rose". She followed the methods of model reading by the teacher, silent reading by the learner, glossary references using flashcards, activities and general summarization. Most of the students followed these methods of learning. Then, other classes include "First Showers" taken by Devananda and "A prayer in the spring" by Robert Frost. All these classes used variety of A-V aids and activity cards to aid the students in their learning process. Thus, as a whole, criticism classes helped us to know more about the constructivist classroom techniques and to practice various teaching skills through a 30 minute teaching session.
