TEACHING PRACTICE WEEK 3 REFLECTION
Day: 11
Date: 09/01/23 (Monday)
Today was my Eleventh day in school;
I reached the school a little bit early by 9:30am. We all the 6 student trainee
faculty were present. We greeted each other and reached or seat which was
allocated for us. As today there were no Assembly I spend some of my time by
chatting with the headmistress and signed the attendance register then when to
my seat and started correcting the answers of the activities that i have given
on the last days. Then I started preparing my lesson plan for the day in
between we had a small chat.
`As per my time table I took the 6th period in class 9.As I entered in class i saw some curiosity in their face it was nothing but they eagerly waiting to hear the rest of the story that I had explained yesterday I too got excited by Seeing this. Just to recollect the last day’s story I asked some questions to they all gave me the correct answer for it. Being a teacher I felt Proud. Then I continued my the story "The Last Leaf" and completed paragraph 10-12, they wanted me to complete the story on that day itself but as the time passes I couldn’t complete it by one period so I told them to read the story from the starting till paragraph 12 from there text book, They all started reading the story silently. Then I Thought to call one of students and asked them to read the story loudly. It was just to check whether they make the same mistakes that they made on the previous day .But as what I thought they made the same mistakes by this time also i cleared their pronunciation and helped them in reading the paragraph. As time was running the boy could only read the first two paragraphs. Then I told them to read the paragraph 1-12 at home
The class ended by 3:45pm. We student faculty had a small chat with each other and left the school by 4:00pm.
Day: 12
Date: 10/01/23 (Tuesday)
I reached the school
9:45am.Met my team members and we all greeted each other and reached or seat
which were allocated for us. I spend some of my time by chatting with the
headmistress and signed the attendance register then when to my seat and
started preparing my lesson plan for the day. Today also we all
participated in the Midday meal program, which I felt so happy to be a part of it.
As usual I took the initiative in serving the Mid-day Meal Programme
Today I got two periods in class 9 As per my time table I had the 6th period and as the 7th period was free I had to engaged that period too .This time I was eager to complete my lesson as their students showed their interest in completing the story, I started the story "The Last Leaf" but I completed then next 6 paragraph 13-19 by two periods as in the middle of the 7th period students started to chat each other as they felt boring so I stopped and asked what had happened to them, they said they are interested in hearing the rest of the story but now they feel tired to sit and hear. So I decided not to make them to lose their interest in learning English, I started to give them some group activity. Some of them were interested in doing and some of them showed difficulties in doing it. I didn’t be angry with any of them as i could understand their tiredness. Then i started to have an informal chat with them I asked them about who they wanted to be in life. Many of them shared their dream some of them said they wanted to go abroad for work, some of them wants to have government job, and I was very much excited in hearing the dreams. While having this chat i have seen the happiness in each of their face the dream of their future. By the last 5 minutes I asked them can I continue my teaching, they said no. Then I continued my chat till the bell rang. The class ended by 3:45pm. I shared my today experience with my colleagues and left the school by 4:00pm.
Day: 13
Date: 11/01/23 (Wednesday)
I reached the
school a little bit early by 9:30am. We all the 6 student trainee were present.
We greeted each other and reached or seat which was allocated for us. As Today
there were Assembly I to had taken part in making the students to gather in the
play ground
by the mean time I
had greeted the headmistress and had a small chat with her. She asked me to
conduct a small motivational speech, but I was not prepared I asked pardon for
this time and told her that next time I will do the same. She said ok. Today
the assembly was conducted by the students of standard 9 they started with a
small prayer and headmistress gave them some important instruction and she
reminded the students that tomorrow the JRC exam will be held. After the assembly
I spend some of my time in preparing my lesson plan for the day.
Day 14
Date: 12/01/23 (Thursday)
Today we meet some new students of different class.
As always I use to have a causal chat with them. We teaching students share our
class room experience after each class, Today I came to understand the nature
of the students were different. The most of the boys are
naturally very active. Teachers used to advise us to be tough with them in
order to maintain the class's decorum. It's not simple there to teach such a
group of students. I had to act strongly with them.
As
usual I reached the School by 9:45am. As
Usual I today also took the 4th period in class 9 Students were
tired by the time as it was the second last period of the day I struggled a bit
hard to gain their attention, I didn’t go directly through my subject I started
the class with some small activities and then I saw some happiness in their
face. Without going through the text book I asked them whether they had a mood
in hearing a next part of the story. They said yes then I started the story of
"The Last Leaf" by O. Henry. Students were so excited in hearing the
Story they interacted with me and asked some questions related to the story. I
too felt so happy by seeing their response. From my story itself I gave more
emphasis on the new words. As there were no time today I didn’t introduced a
new vocabulary today. The class ended by 3:45pm. We had a small chat with each
other and left the school by 4:00pm.
Day 15
Date: 13/01/23
(Friday)
Today was my Fifteenth day in school; I
reached the school a little bit early by 9:30am. We all the 6 teaching trainee
were present. We greeted each other and reached or seat which was allocated for
us. As Today there were no Assembly I spend some of my time in correcting the
answers of the activities that I have given on the last days. Then I started
preparing my lesson plan for the day in between we had a small chat.
`I took the 6th period in class 9.For today’s class our teacher Mrs Harsha S. observed my class. As I entered in class I saw some curiosity in their face it was nothing but they eagerly waiting to hear the rest of the story that I had explained yesterday I too got excited by seeing this. Just to recollect the last day’s story I asked some questions to they all gave me the correct answer for it. Being a teacher I felt Proud. Then I continued the story "The Last Leaf" and completed the story. Then I said them to read the story from there text book now only they realised that the story was from the text book. They all read the story silently. After that I called two students and asked them to read the story loudly, they were shy in reading it loudly as they may raise mistakes I encouraged them and he stared reading while reading I corrected his Pronunciation, not only for him for the whole class. Then I concluded the portion. After that, the teacher gave some feedbacks and corrections for me and took some pictures with us. The class ended by 3:45pm. I shared my today experience with my colleagues and left the school by 4:00pm.
