TEACHING PRACTICE WEEK 5 REFLECTION
Day: 20
Date: 23/01/23 (Monday)
By
9:15am, I had already arrived a little early at the school. There were 6 teaching
trainees in total. We greeted each other
met the headmistress, signed the register and reached or seat which was
allocated for us. After the two-day holidays, everyone's faces showed signs of
joy. We all made the necessary arrangements by the morning itself because we
are hosting the Assembly today.
We
helped in gathering the students to the ground and started the
assembly. I had the chance to lead the prayers song. After that Vinoy
K. V. gave the introduction, Febi Marium Babu read from the newspaper, Fathima
Salah led the pledge, and I once more shared my thought for the day. And at
last Sreelekshmi and Priya Raj concluded the assembly. Today's assembly was
conducted differently. By the grace of God, everything went smoothly. Everyone
was pleased and complimented us on our unique method of assembly, which made us
all feel proud.
We all
returned to our seats after the assembly, and the students went to their
classrooms. Then, as my hour was in the seventh period, I began preparing for
the diagnostic test that I had announced on the previous Friday. The diagnostic
test was successful because the questions were written in a way that allowed students
to grasp them. Nearly 20 of the 21 students who were scheduled to take the test
during my hour of testing did so. Today was a good day after the class we left
the school by around 3:50 pm.
Day: 21
Date: 24/01/23 (Tuesday)
At around 9:30
this morning, I arrived at the school. Before going to see the headmistress, my
teammates and I said hello to each other and to some of my students. These
students have become closer to me over time, and when they see me from a
distance, they come to say at least good morning. This makes me happier and
happier. I then met the headmistress and signed the register.
After that, I went to my seat and began reviewing the yesterday's prior day activity diagnostic test. As I sat and reviewed each paper, I discovered that some of them had skipped some questions and others had provided two answers for a single question. After writing it down and participating in lunch, I had 6th hour left in ninth grade Students exhibited interest in the story "The Happiness Machine" that I was continuing and concluded the story in class during the sixth hour. I refreshed the story from the previous day, and they also communicated with me.I had a different perspective on my children today, and I was happy to finish my hour and leave the school by 3:50.
Day: 22
Date: 25/01/23 (Wednesday)
The
Headmistress was off today, so when I arrived at the school at 9:15 a.m., I
went and signed the register with my colleagues. We encountered the other
teachers and struck up a conversation with them on the way to our seat.
Today,
Nibin Sir, the physical education instructor, visited to visit us in which the
eighth grade students had their PT hour. We training teachers also attended the
visit. Nibin sir left the school in the afternoon.
I
had to take a leave of absence this afternoon due to personal reasons, so I
informed the Headmistress and the college option teacher yesterday and asked
for their permission but unfortunately it’s not needed so I continued the class.
As a result, I was able to do my regular hour today, so I taught them on the grammar
topic ‘Prepositions’ as an Advance Organizer Model and departed by 3:00 pm.
Day: 23
Date: 26/01/23 (Thursday)
Today, January 26,
is the 74th Republic Day, which is a public holiday for schools and colleges,
even though the headmistress, teaching staff, and some students arrived to the
school by 9:00am because she had informed us the day before that there would be
a flag-raising ceremony.
The flag-raising
ceremony today was a wonderful occasion. Being a part of it was my first
experience as a teacher. A few PTA and political members also participated in
that function. The flag-hosting ceremony was held on schedule, and I had the
unexpected opportunity to offer a message on Republic Day that I felt proud to
do so.
The Ceremony
lasted for more than two hours, and then we all dispersed. The event was quite
fantastic, and we all had unique experiences.
Day: 24
Date: 27/01/23 (Friday)
As
yesterday was a public holiday, I came at the school around 9:30 a.m. I noticed
some happy faces in everyone, and everyone seemed to be in a good mood.
However, some of our teachers were absent today, so I went and signed the
register with my colleagues. After that, the headmistress told us that there
were some free hours that we needed to fill. We agreed, and went to our seats,
Since
the headmistress had instructed me to spend the second hour in 9th stand, I
chose to take a model lesson plan that is based on the idea of a prefix and suffix.
When my hours arrived, I began with the prefix and suffix model, explaining its
significance, where to use it, how to use it, and other details. Students
engaged with it, showed attention, and demonstrated excellent grammar
understanding. I participated in the lunch meal with them towards the
afternoon.
According to the schedule, I have to teach the fifth hour in the ninth standard. After analyzing the students' interest in grammar, I made sure that the fifth hour would also focus on grammar. I chose the directive instruction model and chose to teach relative pronouns, which appears to have captivated students' interest. In reality, I began with pronouns and made the connection to relative pronouns. We all left the school at 3:45 p.m.
