TEACHING PRACTICE WEEK 6 REFLECTION

Day: 26

Date: 30/01/23 (Monday)

I arrived at the school as usual at 9:45 a.m. Signed the attendance record after meeting the school's headmistress. I noticed some joyful smiles in and around the school after the two-day break. I arrived at the staff room with a co-worker who also teaches English, and we talked about our weekly reflection from last Saturday and possible activities for standard 9 pupils. After that, we decided what must be accomplished by this week.

I had a lesson today for eighth-graders, but since it was already the last hour of the day several students had already left, I simply began by reading the poem "My Grand Mothers House" by Kamala Das. The children were eager to hear from me. Then i introduced the aim of the poem. All most by 3:45pm we all left the school.

Day: 27

Date: 31/01/23 (Tuesday)

Since it was the Fasting day for me, I wasn't keen in celebrating my birthday today. However, this was a memorable day for me because it was my birthday. I arrived at college as usual at 9:30 am and proceeded with my classmates to meet the Headmistress and sign the registers. When I received birthday wishes from some of my batch mates who knew it was my birthday today and from others who heard about it and came to wish me, I was overjoyed.

As our optional teacher had been expected over the past several weeks, Harsha Teacher visited the school today to collect the evaluations. As a result, in the morning, we were all very busy. By the time I had to teach 8th standard for the second hour, Vinoy Sir had already attended the first hour of that class, and by the second hour, Harsha Teacher had also come. She evaluated my teaching style, my modulation, and other aspects of it. She also looked over my lesson plan, daily reflection, and planned activities, among other things. Since it was evaluation time, the hours dragged on for around 40 minutes before the kids became restless and began talking to one another. Teacher had to work very hard to keep them quiet.

I read the poem "My Grand Mothers House" by Kamala Das during my hour. I asked about their grandparents' home and the times they used to visit, and some of them related their experiences as they went and visited. I then read the poem and began to explain each line by line. They all shown interest in the poetry and engaged in conversation with me, so I continued with the exercises. After giving us comments on our reflections in the late afternoon, optional teacher Harsha Teacher left the building at 12 p.m. We then all ate lunch together.

After the break, a few 9th students came up to me with a smile and a card they had made for my birthday that contained some writing. In fact, it came as a huge surprise to me and was a memorable occasion in my teaching career. By the time we left the school at 3:45 p.m., I had distributed some candy to my colleagues.

Day: 28

Date: 01/02/23 (Wednesday)

This morning I got to the school about 9:30. My teammates and I greeted one other and a few of my students before heading to see the headmistress. After that, I signed the register and greeted the headmistress. I thought I couldn't go to class today because I was a little weary and ill.

As of yesterday, I was teaching eighth-grade students, so today I had to teach the sixth hour of ninth-grade students. Since the class was in the morning, I prepared a new chapter of the narrative "The Trio," written by R. K. Narayan, which dealt with true friendship and its relationship. Then, in the afternoon, we all participated in lunch.

During my sixth hour, I went to the ninth-grade students, who were happy to see me. I could tell from their faces that they were attached to me and that they had begun to take care of me when they understood that I was ill since they had kept quiet in class. They were all eager to hear the beginning of the story, "The Trio," and they all showed an interest in it. I sat in my room after class because I was exhausted and left the school 3:45.

Day: 29

Date: 02/02/23 (Thursday)

Due to some health issues, I arrived at the school this morning by 9:55am before the school prayer started. After that, my team members and I met the headmistresses and spoke with them for a short while about the interactions and activities of the students. However, because I had a headache and other health issues, I was unable to spend as much time talking to them as I would have liked.

As soon as I sat down, I started reworking the lesson plan and considering how I would design the day's achievement test. I started the following paragraph of the R. K. Narayan narrative "The Trio," which I had introduced yesterday, during my regular fourth hour at  standard 9. Before that, I asked some questions about the story, which made me quite happy, and then I resumed the story.

After class, I planned the achievement exam, the diagnostic, and the activities that would be conducted for the remainder of the day. At 3:45 pm, I departed the school.

Day: 30

Date: 03/02/23 (Friday)

By 9:30am, I had already arrived a little early at the school. There were 6 student faculty trainees in total. We greeted one another, signed the register, and then went to our designated seats. Students were ecstatic because it was the weekend and they had two days off coming up. Since there was no assembly today, I began creating my lesson plan for the day. In the meanwhile, we had a brief conversation.

Today the DEO (District Education officer) was vising our school by morning itself we got the information and we all were running to do the needful before he arrives. And by 10:00am sir arrived and visited some of the classes and spend some time with the meeting in headmistress room, around by 11:30 after the meeting sir left the school.

I had to take the 5th hour in the 9th standard I started the following paragraph of the R. K. Narayan narrative "The Trio, “and completed the story. Students were very interested. After my class i give some activities and they completed it too and by 3:45 I left the school.
