ACHIVEMENT TEST & DIAGNOSTIC TEST WORKSHOP

Image
Today we had to be at the college for the weekly reflection, so by 9:30 we  were  all there getting ready, and by almost 10:00 the session had begun with some  of the student teachers sharing their opinions and thoughts regarding the classes. Then Dr. Isaac Paul from Trivandrum gave us training on achievement tests and diagnostic tests.  The programme began at 11:15 am and included a theory class and power point presentations. It focused on how to administer achievement tests and how to assess students. It lasted till 12:45 pm.  We received a hands-on lesson on creating a question bank for the achievement test  and diagnostic test  during the afternoon session. We had all prepared at least  one question at that point in the session, which was interesting. Sir evaluated it and pointed out our mistakes and cleared them. And we all left the college.

We helped in gathering the students to the ground and started the assembly.  I had the chance to lead the prayers song. After that Vinoy K. V. gave the introduction, Febi Marium Babu read from the newspaper, Fathima Salah led the pledge, and I once more shared my thought for the day. And at last Sreelekshmi and Priya Raj concluded the assembly. Today's assembly was conducted differently. By the grace of God, everything went smoothly. TEACHING PRACTICE ONLINE REFLECTION MEETING

Image
In Saturday evening, our college principal informed everyone to join in an online reflection session to evaluate our teaching programme and school experiences. Teacher asked one student from each school to share their activities and concerns during the teaching practice. Most of the student teachers shared the similar experience with the school students. Apart from two or three schools which had many extra-curricular activities, all the other school representatives shared that they could complete one lesson plan for every day. As the teaching classes started after a long gap, there were concerns of discipline related issues from class students. Some of the school representatives shared their inability to complete their lesson plan within the shorter time frame. There were also concerns about the pressure to complete the portion at the earliest. In general, everyone provided a positive reflection towards the attitude of teachers towards the student teachers. TEACHING PRACTICE WEEK 2 REFLECTION

After a gap of one month, we returned back to the school on 3 rd January 2023. It was very exciting to start a year as a teacher instead of a student. We could complete one lesson plan every day. Saturday was also a working day. Am taking the class charge of 9 th standard. In the first day, we had to face some difficulty in managing children as they lost connection with us. In the coming days, we slowly started forming a good rapport with them and they continued to start responding well.  Usually class starts at 10 am. We ensured to reach the school by 9:45 itself every day.  In the first day, by 9:45 all of our team gathered together and went to headmistress room for signing the daily attendance. This time, we have been provided with a new class to sit together. Last time the class was used by 8 th standard students. As it was Tuesday, I was having the sixth period for class 9. The class contained both English and Malayalam medium students together. Most of the...

TEACHING PRACTICE WEEK 1 REFLECTION

Image
GVHSS, Vadakkadathucavu was a learning hub for all of us to practice the theoretical aspect of teaching acquired in the B.Ed classes. We, as a team consisting of seven members started our teaching practice of semester 3, on 14 November 2022. First day itself we could be a part of the celebrations of Children's day 2022. As the school has traditional outward look, it has the magical power to take its visitors back to their childhood memories. The school contains LP, UP and H.S Sections. Each class has only one division and as a result both Malayalam and English medium students learn together. Teachers provided us with the time table and we were given one period for every day. Each period consists of 30-35 minutes. We felt it as a short time span to complete one lesson plan within one period.  In the first day Students responded well but as it was the first class, I found difficulty in controlling some of the students. But as the days continued, I could manage the class well...
